Site, Art Gallery Parking and Landscape

This small project was designed as a moment of levity in the otherwise serious city of Houston. Appropriate to the client — a well-known gallery — the design for the carport has a sculptural flair. The wall and sloped roof are wrapped in a foliage-patterned “wallpaper”, an artistic touch that both enlivens the parking lot and acts as a billboard of sorts for the gallery. During special events and exhibit openings, the carport is used as an outdoor room; it’s a convenient place to set up a cocktail bar or buffet for guests.
